About

TaoPic creates and delivers unique artwork for people to enjoy, combining artwork with the functionality of “place”, organisational values, and the aesthetics of the surrounding environment.

About Taopic

Taopic’s aim is to create harmonious environments for people to be in. By using placemaking strategies we will build connections between places and people and art. The word ‘Taopic’ is an abbreviation of ‘Tao (Dao)’ and ‘Picture’. ‘Tao’ is the process of nature by which all things change and which is to be followed for a life of harmony.

About Founder

Zhuzhu (Guiyong Zhu)

Zhuzhu (Guiyong Zhu) a full-time Adelaide-based artist. She has studied art full-time since high school in 2002, and completed a Bachelor of mural art degree in China in 2011. She then worked as an artist and art consultant for five years in Shanghai designing artworks for star hotels (e.g. Shangri-La Hotel, Hilton hotel), residential apartments, and commercial buildings. It was during this period that she developed interest in applying art with property development to make the buildings not only look better but also have healthier and more enjoyable spaces for everybody – residents and passers-by alike.

To further this interest she obtained her master’s degree in property at Adelaide University from 2019 to 2020. She learned about placemaking during her studies, which allows her to better understand the relationships between community, place, and art. Art brings communities together and makes better places; places impact community members’ happiness and health, while community members know what kind of art elements they need and what kind of places they require. Community, place, and art supplement each other.

She has developed a diverse practice spanning murals, paintings, bespoke designs, and art installations. She also design and fabricate jewellery. Her currently work is focusing mainly in the public spaces where it is shared with everyone in the community. Nothing makes her happier than when her artworks makes a connection with the people to bring communities together culturally while giving them a sense of engagement where everybody feels they belong. Since moving to Adelaide in 2019, She has designed and painted murals for business organisations, councils, University, libraries, office buildings, and commercial shops.
